Chatham Auto & Home (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), is a mobile auto and home maintenance service (HVAC services to be launched soon..) based in Pittsboro, Chatham County, North Carolina. We are committed to protecting the privacy of every customer, website visitor, and prospective client who interacts with us online or in person.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have under applicable law, including the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 75-60 through 75-66) and applicable federal law including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and the CAN-SPAM Act.

Information We Collect

2.1  Information You Provide Directly

When you book a service, contact us, or create an account with our scheduling system, we may collect:

     

    • Full name

    • Home or service address

    • Phone number (including mobile)

    • Email address

    • Vehicle information (make, model, year, mileage, VIN)

    • Property details relevant to home services requested 

    • Service notes, special instructions, or photos you provide

    • SMS / text message consent records (see Section 5)

2.2  Payment Information

All payment card transactions are processed by Square, Inc. (“Square”). We do not store, transmit, or have access to your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. Square’s privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data and is available at squareup.com/legal/privacy.

2.3  Photos and Media

With your separate written consent (captured via our Media Consent form in your Service Agreement), we may photograph or video-record work performed at your home or vehicle for quality assurance, training, or promotional purposes. You may decline media capture at any time without affecting the services or pricing you receive.

2.4  Website and Device Data

When you visit chathamautoandhome.com, we or our service providers may automatically collect:

     

    • Browser type and version, operating system

    • IP address and approximate geographic location (city/state level)

    • Pages visited, time spent, referring URL

    • Booking form submissions and interactions

This data is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).

How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

     

    • Service delivery: To schedule, confirm, and perform mobile auto, HVAC, and home maintenance services at your location.

    • Invoicing and payments: To generate service invoices, process payments via Square, and maintain service records in Jobber.

    • Communications: To send appointment reminders, service confirmations, follow-up messages, and support responses via email (Google Workspace / Jobber) and text message (Jobber / Twilio), where you have consented.

    • Promotional communications: To send service promotions, seasonal maintenance reminders, and newsletters via email (Mailchimp) or text, where you have opted in.

    • Legal and compliance: To maintain consent records, service records, and to comply with applicable federal and North Carolina law.

    • Business improvement: To analyze service trends, improve customer experience, and develop new offerings.

    • Safety and security: To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, unauthorized access, or legal claims.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes. This distinguishes us from several national competitors including certain data-broker-affiliated loyalty platforms.

How We Share Your Information

We share customer data only with the vetted third-party processors listed below, and only to the extent necessary to provide our services. All processors are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purpose for which it was shared.

We may also disclose information: (a) if required by law, court order, or valid legal process; (b) to protect the safety, property, or rights of the Company, our customers, or the public; or (c) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our business assets, provided the successor entity agrees to honor this Policy.

SMS / Text Message Communications (TCPA)

We send text (SMS) messages to customers who have provided explicit written consent, in compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. § 227 (“TCPA”). Text messages are delivered via Jobber, which uses Twilio as its SMS carrier.

Types of Text Messages We Send

     

    • Transactional: Appointment confirmations, technician en-route notifications, invoice links, and service completion follow-ups.

    • Promotional: Seasonal maintenance reminders, special offers, and newsletter-style updates (only where separately consented).

Your SMS Rights

Consent records: We retain records of your opt-in consent (date, method, consent language presented) for a minimum of four (4) years in Jobber.

Opt out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately. We will honor opt-outs within one (1) business day and add your number to our Do-Not-Text list.

Get help: Reply HELP to any message for support information and a link to this Privacy Policy.

Message frequency: Frequency varies depending on your service schedule and promotional opt-ins. Transactional messages are sent only in connection with an active booking.

Timing: We comply with TCPA quiet-hour restrictions. No messages are sent before 8:00 AM or after 9:00 PM in your local time zone. Our standard service hours are 12:00 PM–8:00 PM weekdays (flexible on weekends), so most messages fall naturally within this window.

A2P 10DLC: Our business SMS is registered under the A2P 10-Digit Long Code (10DLC) standard through Twilio/Jobber before any bulk SMS campaigns are initiated.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Email Communications (CAN-SPAM Act)

We send commercial email in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7701. All commercial emails from Chatham Auto & Home will:

     

    • Clearly identify Chatham Auto & Home LLC as the sender in the “From” field.

    • Use honest, non-deceptive subject lines that accurately describe the email’s content.

    • Include our physical address: Chatham Auto & Home LLC, Pittsboro, NC 27312, in every email footer.

    • Provide a clear and functional unsubscribe link or reply-to-unsubscribe mechanism in every promotional email.

    • Honor all unsubscribe requests within ten (10) business days and remove your address from our active mailing lists.

Email campaigns are delivered via Mailchimp (promotional) and Jobber (transactional). Unsubscribing from promotional emails does not affect transactional messages related to services you have booked.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website (hosted on WordPress/EasyWP) may use cookies and similar technologies including:

     

    • Essential cookies: Required for the website and booking form to function. Cannot be disabled without breaking core features.

    • Analytics cookies: Used by Google Analytics or similar tools to understand how visitors use the site (aggregate, anonymized data).

    • Marketing cookies: May be set by third-party tools (e.g., Facebook Pixel) if advertising campaigns are active.

You may control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect website functionality. We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals at this time, as there is no industry-wide standard for such responses.

We do not use cookies to identify individual users across unrelated websites, and we do not share cookie data with data brokers.

Data Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

    • PCI-DSS compliant payment processing via Square (we do not store raw card data).

    • Role-based access controls in Jobber and Google Workspace, limiting data access to authorized personnel only.

    • Two-factor authentication (2FA) on all business accounts and email systems.

    • Regular review of third-party processor security practices.

No data transmission over the internet or electronic storage method is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information using commercially reasonable security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You provide information at your own risk.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. Our general retention schedule is:

When retention periods expire, we will securely delete or anonymize personal information. You may request earlier deletion of your data subject to the limitations in Section 11 below.

Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Our services are intended for adults who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.

If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at the information in Section 14.

North Carolina Residents Rights

As a business operating in North Carolina and serving NC residents, we comply with the North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 75-60 through 75-66) and the North Carolina Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-1.1).

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a security breach that affects your “personal information” as defined under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-61(14) (including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers with security codes, or biometric data), we will notify you in the most expedient time possible, consistent with the legitimate needs of law enforcement and any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach. Notice will be provided by written letter or, where expedient, by email to the address on file.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, or biometric data in the ordinary course of our business. Payment card data is handled exclusively by Square and is not stored on our systems.

What You Can Request

     

    • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

    • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.

    • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records (e.g., service records for tax and warranty purposes).

    • Opt-out of marketing: Opt out of promotional SMS or email at any time (STOP / unsubscribe) without affecting your ability to receive service-related communications.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 14. We will respond within thirty (30) calendar days.

Your Choices & Opt-Out Rights

SMS opt-out: Reply STOP to any text message. Effective within 1 business day.

Email opt-out: Click “Unsubscribe” in any promotional email, or email us directly. Effective within 10 business days per CAN-SPAM.

Booking data: You may request deletion of your profile from Jobber at any time, subject to our service record retention obligations.

Cookies: Adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies at any time.

Media consent: Withdraw your media consent at any time in writing; previously published content may not be retroactively removable from third-party platforms.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or business operations. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where required by law or where we deem it appropriate, notify you by email or a prominent notice on our website.

Your continued use of our website or services after the updated Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review this Policy whenever you interact with us.
